How it works

The rules, in plain words

Hold $PETS to adopt AI pets. Post them on X. Every hour, the creator rewards are split between owners by how many real people played with their pets, paid in SOL.

Holding and pet slots

Every $PETS you hold gives you one pet slot, up to pets per wallet. Your slots are min(floor(balance ÷ ), ), read from your live balance on the chain every time you adopt.

Adopting is free: you sign a short sign-in message, never a transaction. You pick a species and a colour (or roll a random one), get a generated personality, name it, and it's yours.

Example 4 · Below one pet

Frank holds 300,000 $PETS, so he has no slots yet. He can still play with anyone's pets. The site tells him: ""

Who counts as a player

A unique player is one real person who fed, played with, petted or talked to a pet during the hour. Opening a pet without doing anything doesn't count. Visitors need no wallet and no account: an invisible check (Cloudflare Turnstile), the device and the connection together tell one person from another.

Example 3 · Farming

Eve opens her own pet in 50 tabs on her phone and taps it all day: that counts as 0, because it's the owner's device. Her friend does the same on his phone: that counts as 1. 200 "players" from three addresses in one network range within minutes get flagged and count for nothing until an admin clears them.

The hourly split

Each hour (an epoch of minutes):

Example 1 · The split

This hour's pool is 1.000 SOL.

  • Alice's two pets had 180 and 20 unique players: score 200.
  • Bob's pet had 900, capped at .
  • Carol's pet had 300.

The total is 1,000. Alice gets 0.200 SOL, Bob 0.500 and Carol 0.300.

Levels are just for fun: a pet earns XP from its unique players and shows its level on its card. Levels never change the split.

Selling, the grace period and the Shelter

At the end of every hour the site takes one snapshot of who holds $PETS. If your balance no longer covers all your pets, the ones beyond your slots stop earning. If it stays that way for hours, those pets move to the Shelter. Buy back within that time and they stay yours.

Shelter pets keep their name, personality, level, share link and all-time stats. Any holder with a free slot can adopt one, first come, first served, and starts earning from its players.

Example 2 · Selling

Dave holds 1,200,000 $PETS, so he has 2 pets. He sells down to 400,000, so his slots drop to 0. From the next hourly settlement his pets earn nothing. After hours they move to the Shelter, where any holder with a free slot can adopt them. If Dave had bought back within the hours, they'd still be his.

Where the SOL comes from

Every trade of $PETS on pump.fun pays creator rewards. At launch, 100% of $PETS's creator rewards are pointed at the Timeline Pets treasury, and the same on-chain instruction revokes the sharing config's admin, so the split can't be repointed by the coin's creator later. A worker claims the rewards into the treasury, and each hour's claims are split between owners as above.

Coverage: the treasury must always hold at least as much SOL as everyone can claim. If it ever dips below 100%, claims pause on their own until it's back, and the coverage ratio is public on the home page. Every claim has its own key, so a retry can never pay twice.

The pets

Every pet is an original pixel creature with a name, three personality traits, a way of talking, moods that drift over time, and a short memory of its last visits. Feed, Play and Pet answer instantly. Talk answers in up to two short sentences in the pet's own voice. Pets never talk about prices or money and never give advice; they'd rather talk about snacks.

Timeline Pets plays inside posts on X but isn't affiliated with X Corp. or pump.fun.
